The Wagon

Handbuilt by us using many reclaimed materials and wood from our own land, The Wagon sleeps two comfortably.  Everything including all the ironwork, chassis and canvas work was done by Ben to a bespoke design.We wanted to create something unique where people could come and enjoy this beautiful part of Devon we live in, without impacting on the natural environment and wildlife.  The Wagon is off grid.  Power comes from solar, cooking is via wood or bottled gas, there is a compost loo and waste water is drained to a reed bed. It is fully insulated with sheeps wool and has air blown heating, making it warm and cosy for use all year round.  Please see below for full list of amenities.

Amenities

  • Please note:

  • There are steps up to the property and external compost loo.  

  • ​Sorry, no smoking in Wagon or canvas area

  • As this is an off-grid property with solar-powered electricity, hairdryers/straighteners and other high-powered appliances cannot be used (maximum 300W). Laptops, phone charging and the like are all fine.

  • The internal WC should only be used for liquid; toilet roll should not be flushed, please use bin provided

  • There is no WiFi in the property, however mobile signal is generally good

  • The TV monitor does not have satellite or terrestrial channels, however can be used as a Smart TV via hotspot from mobile network and has a USB port (some films are provided)

Our changeover days are Fridays and Mondays. We run three types of package stays as follows:

  • Weekend bookings are for 3 nights (Friday-Monday)

  • Mid Week bookings are 4 nights (Mon-Fri)

  • Full Week bookings are 7 nights (Fri-Fri or Mon-Mon)
